Connect Demand Discovery to Claude
Demand Discovery works inside Claude through a free connector. No API key, no signup, no code.
Once connected, you can say "I have an idea I would like to run through Demand Discovery" and Claude runs your idea through real market evidence: real people, quoted in their own words, asking for what you want to build.
The connector URL is always:
https://mcp.demanddiscovery.ai/api/mcp
That is the only URL you need on any platform. If an AI assistant gives you different install steps or a different URL, use this page instead.
Claude on the web (easiest, nothing to install)
- Go to claude.ai and sign in. A free account works.
- Click your initials (bottom left), then Settings, then Connectors.
- Click "Add" (upper right), then "Add custom connector".
- Name it Demand Discovery and paste the URL above. Save.
- Start a new chat, click the plus sign (+), choose Connectors, and toggle Demand Discovery on.
- Say: "I have an idea I would like to run through Demand Discovery."
Claude Desktop
- Open Claude Desktop and sign in. No terminal needed.
- In the chat window, click the plus sign (+), then Connectors, then "Manage connectors". (Or: your initials, bottom left, then Settings, then Connectors.)
- Add a custom connector with the URL above.
- Back in the chat, click +, then Connectors, and toggle Demand Discovery on.
Prefer the command line? Run npx demand-discovery-install in Command Prompt (Windows) or Terminal (Mac/Linux), in your computer's terminal, not in Claude's chat. Then fully quit and reopen Claude Desktop. Requires Node.js.
Claude Code
Run this in your computer's terminal, the same window where you launch Claude Code, not inside a Claude chat:
claude mcp add --transport http demand-discovery https://mcp.demanddiscovery.ai/api/mcp
Then restart Claude Code and type /mcp to confirm demand-discovery shows as connected.
Optional: the Demand Discovery Skill
On paid Claude plans you can also upload the free Demand Discovery Skill (a .zip from mcp.demanddiscovery.ai). Skills apply to your whole account, so it works on web and Desktop, and Claude will follow the full validation flow and show every report exactly as generated.
Other platforms

Troubleshooting
- Claude says it can't find the tool. Remove and re-add the connector, then start a new chat. On claude.ai web, custom connectors require a plan that supports them; Claude Desktop works regardless.
- The connector was blocked mid-conversation. That is Claude's own safety check on newer connectors, not an error on our side. Try again in a new chat.
- You got a different URL from an AI assistant. Only https://mcp.demanddiscovery.ai/api/mcp is real.
