Is My Startup Idea Good?
There's a real answer — and it doesn't come from your friends, your co-founder, or a survey. It comes from behavior.
A "good" startup idea is one where real people are already trying to solve the problem in inefficient ways. They're posting about it. They're searching for it. They're hacking together solutions in their off-hours. Your job isn't to invent demand — it's to find demand that already exists.
Three questions a good idea answers yes to
- Are people already complaining about this? Reddit, X, Hacker News, IndieHackers, niche forums.
- Are people already paying for inferior solutions? Workarounds, hacks, multiple tools stitched together.
- Will real prospects reply when you reach out? Reply rate is the truest signal of latent demand.
If yes to all three: test product demand formally. If no: pivot the angle, the audience, or the problem framing.
